San Jose police reject call from Nora Campos to bring in CHP
San Jose police have once again been asked by South Bay Assemblywoman Nora Campos to call in the CHP to help them deal with the recent surge in homicides.
In a statement, the police department has again rejected Campos' call saying it has "no immediate plans to reach out to other law enforcement agencies for assistance."
In anticipation of such a response, Campos, in her letter, went on to criticize the police department and city leaders for not heeding her call back in August.
The latest call from Campos comes on the heels of five homicides in San Jose last week, bringing this year's total to 21.
San Jose is on pace to surpass last year's total of 46.
